Leather is a classic material which has been used for decades in shoes and more importantly, football boots. While the majority of modern football boots are knit or synthetic leather football boots there are still some leather options on the market. These leather boots often sports the softest upper you can find. In order for the leather to remain soft it needs to be fed by leather conditioned, leather treatment products or leather food. Today we will explain how to effectively apply these products and care for your leather football boots.
Step 1. Locate products
You will only need a few things to apply leather products to your boots. These are: Leather Product of choice (Cream,Grease,Food), Leather Brush (or cloth as an alternative). The products I personally use are (with links)
Step 2. Clean Upper
Before you apply any leather products on the upper you must first have a clean and dry upper on your boot. Get a damp cloth and in a circular motion downwards wipe the upper so there is no dirt on the upper. Only to leather portions need to be clean but a entire clean boot will be ideal. Make sure the upper is completely dry before you continue to step 3.
Step 3. Apply Product
Apply a small amount of product of your selected product onto your brush or cloth. In a circular or scrubbing motion wipe the product on the leather portion on the upper. Make sure there is an even coat on the upper and set out to dry.
Step 4. Drying
Depending on your conditions the time you dry for will vary. If you need to use your boots right away wait at least 15-20 minutes and wipe away all excess product on the upper. If you have more time let your boot absorb as much product as possible before wiping away excess product. The longer it absorb the better!
